Technically, Pipers of Rock requested the January 21st show, but unfortunately, all that currently exists of that show is a mere 16 minute fragment. So, I went ahead and decided to upload this show. Out of all the January 1975 shows, this is the best one imho. Page seems to be playing with more determination and focus as a result of his broken finger, which results in some nice, fluid playing. And while Plant is clearly sick with the flu, once he warms up, he actually sounds pretty decent for 1975. He's not quite at his March peak, but he's also not too far off. The vibe of the show is also markedly different from later 1975 shows, what with How Many More Times taking the place of Dazed and Confused, as well as the rare rendition of The Wanton Song. All in all, this is a pretty good show given the circumstances.

They sound pretty great, considering Plant had the flu and Page had a broken finger.
I saw them two years later here, April 9, 1977.

Isn't this one the one I went to and Jimmy Page had the flu? This was the absolute cosmic concert for me at age of 15. Man, Bonham and the sound guy were wearing white jumpsuits, Bonham a black top hat! I had first row seats in the center of the mezzanine in the Chicago stadium. It took me 5 minutes to stand up from my seat. Wow an understatement with this show. I still feel the same tingles when I listen to the recording. Thank you for grabbing this one.

I love those early 75 no quarters. Very much like the July 73 versions,.

Pages tone was so much better in January and early February compared all the show from February 12tj onwards. Especially his tone at these Chicago shows . It's thicker fuller warmer much less thin and brittle . It's more overdriven too . His tone at these 3 Chicago shows and at the Montreal show are truly Amazing . Perhaps his broken finger tip made him decide on a more forgiving and saturated guitar tone .

I was at this concert in Chicago Jan. 22 1975 at the stadium
Robert plant had a sore throat and Jimmy page had a broken finger. I was ☹️ to be there because I knew they were not going to sound very good and they didn't. I think they should have cancelled that the show and have given the money back to ticket stub holders and rescheduled. I think Led Zeppelin is one of the best classic rock groups of all times. I still have that ticket stub too!?

Excellent High Note at 1:36:34
I think I'd go as far to say this Robert's best performance of 75 so far that we have he doesn't at all sound hoarse during the middle half to the end of the show and he's so confident at first on the ending of Stairway to go for the original melody but falls short, and he absolutely nails The Wanton Song with incredible vocals. But that How Many More Times is truly something else with a true air raid scream during the final guuuunnnnn!

oh man the sound just isn't very good, but Page is ON FIRE during Sick Again. Wish we had better sound over all but any Zep is better than no Zep.

Wish they would have opened with Wanton Song into Sick Again this tour, not sure what would have been worse vocally for Plant, R&R or Wanton song LOL. I think the only decent R&R I've heard from 75 or 73 for that matter is 3.21.75

Got some never before video performance of the show, where Pagey sounds like Eddie Van Whalen, during Whole Lotta Lovin? For just a few moments Pagey spots the camera & smiles? His dragon suit just got stolen, Grant went & bought a three piece white suit, seen?

I love all Zeppelin shows and I’m very grateful to the people who bring them to us, but it’s always a bit disappointing when Moby Dick and No Quarter are cut short. They happen to be 2 of my favorite live songs. Having The Wanton Song Live is a very sweet bonus though!!

Interesting setlist, Plant’s giving it his all. When can you upload the 71 winter show?

Wow. I'm genuinely surprised with how Plant sounds towards the back half of this gig. Still not great, but far better than anything I've heard from the early US gigs on this tour. He actually gives the Wanton Song a good shot, and How Many More Times isn't too shabby either. Good show from what I'm hearing so far.
